FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT BOOKING CHARTERS

  • Should I book a half day or full day fishing charter?  - The best answer to this is if there will be younger children on the charter with you. Young children seem to tire faster and half days are recommended.

  • Will we be fishing Mississippi, Cat Island, or the Louisiana Marsh? - This can be answered two ways, either it can be the Charter Boat Captain's choice which is generally where they deem the highest probability for catching fish. The other answer is it is up to you as the customer if you have a request for a certain location.

  • Do I need a fishing license? - If you are charter fishing with a charter boat captain in Mississippi waters you do not need a fishing license, for you are covered under their charter license. If you are fishing the Louisiana Marsh you will need a Charter Pass from the Louisiana Department of wildlife and fisheries on their website. This should not be purchased until recommended by the Captain. If you are a Louisiana resident with a residential fishing license no charter pass is needed.

  • What supplies will I need for my fishing charter? - Head Shaker Charters provides everything you need for your fishing charter including bait, tackle, and bottled water. Common needs are sunblock, Dramamine, beverages, snacks, and a small cooler for your cleaned fish should be brought by fishing charter clients.
