Charter Fishing Bay St Louis Mississippi!

Updated: Apr 24, 2023

Speckled Trout Charter Fishing Mississippi

This month at Head Shaker Charters I had back to back charter trips in one day.

On the morning fishing charter in Bay St Louis, the ride out was beautiful, smooth seas and you could see the bait fish moving everywhere. We arrived at the marsh early and got on a good spec bite on our first stop. Overall we were able to catch a limit real nice speckled trout with just 2 people onboard. It was one of those perfect days!

Our second charter trip of the day I stopped at some of the same spots we had fished earlier and the bite had fallen off. We caught some nice trout but only had half of what we had caught the morning trip. Plan B was to let our clients catch some bull Redfish. I tell you they had a great time fighting those beast.

So many factors come into play with fishing. Same day, same weather conditions, so what could it be? On this particular day it was very hot. The trout bite that morning was in shallower waters. Trout like us don't like heat and move into deeper waters. Another factor on this evening was the tide range. The tide movement was so strong that it was impossible to fish anywhere the water was concentrated due to geography.

So what can you do to make your fishing trip more successful in these hot conditions or large tide ranges? Catch that early morning bite on these hot days. Once the water heats up speckled trout can be more difficult to locate.

I really enjoy being a Charter Boat Captain when I get to see people so excited about getting out on the water and creating an experience and memories they will surely talk about for a long time. Bring a kid fishing and create memories that will last a lifetime! If visiting the Mississippi Gulf Coast consider Head Shaker charters as your next Pass Christian Fishing Charter!
