Something new here for Head Shaker Fishing Charter is a weekly fishing report from Pass Christian, MS into the Louisiana Marsh. I will try to maintain a weekly report to the best of my abilities. We have had a busy 2 weeks since the last blog post. The docks at Shaggy’s in Pass Christian have been on fire with fish hitting the cleaning tables in big numbers. The most common catch at the moment are Speckled Trout being followed by Red Fish and Tripletail which are finally starting to show their interest in coming to the docks.
It is that time of the year that tough decisions have to be made. Should you go to Cat Island where the Speckled Trout are significantly larger but, the bite can be slower and numbers lower or go to the Biloxi Marsh where a although you may sacrifice a little size the numbers have been awesome. I often leave it up to my clients to determine what they’re after and lately it’s mostly been the Biloxi Marsh.
We have had less wind events in the past few weeks which has been welcoming. Winds have really given us a run this year. With good weather it seems we’ve had great fishing. The bait of choice this week has mostly been artificial. Fishing about 30” under a Boat Monkey popping cork with a 1/16 oz death grip jig head and a white shrimp ghost minnow. This has proven itself this week to be the go to. The fish don’t really seem to be concentrated to one spot but, focus near the outer edges of the Biloxi Marsh and be sure that you’re in clean water. There has been several trips where it was every the bite was non stop.
Red Fish are being caught but, not in high numbers. The concentration just isn’t high enough yet to focus too much of the half day charters to fishing more for them. Triple tail are really kicking off but facing a lot of competition from fisherman seeking them
